“In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.”
— Albert Einstein
You couldn’t have a great phone conversation if it weren’t for the wires between the two parties.
An Oreo without the creme filling in between the two chocolate cookies just wouldn’t be as appealing, would it?
As Stealers Wheel sang in their biggest hit song,
“Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right. Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.”
Merriam-Webster defines a “middleman” as an intermediary or agent between two parties. Especially: a dealer, agent, or company intermediate between the producer of goods and the retailer or consumer.
It’s Okay to Be Stuck in the Middle
I like to tell people you don’t always need to be talking about real estate, but you do always need to be ready to talk about real estate. You might not have all the answers, but if you’re a great connector, you’re just as valuable as someone who does.
Do you help your customers and clients connect with the best vendors and affiliates in town?
Can you introduce someone’s products, services, or information to someone who could benefit?
It’s hard to count how many Realtors I’ve connected with others for outgoing referrals. I get emails asking, “Does anyone know a good Realtor in [insert city here]?” When I can say yes and make the connection? That’s a win. Maybe not financially, but definitely relationally.
I want to be known as the person who knows people.
Even if it never results in a new opportunity, I’ll keep making those connections—because that’s how you…
Build relationships, solve problems, and have fun.
So, who can you connect with this week?
What common bonds do you share that could link one person to another?
Look around.
The middle matters.
