When a baseball player slumps at the plate, he and his teammates know he just needs one hit to fall—not only to break the slump, but perhaps to start a new hitting streak. You just need one.
It’s an old axiom in golf that you must play it “one shot at a time.” If you have a bad hole, you take a deep breath and let it go. Worrying about it won’t change what happened, but it can affect your next shot. Focus on the next swing and hit it right down the middle. You just need one.
I know some sports gamblers might argue with me, but it doesn’t really matter by how much you win a basketball game. You just need to make sure your score is higher than your opponent’s. You just need one…more.
The same goes for real estate. Sure, we’d all love ten more buyers, ten more listing opportunities, a few unsolicited referrals, or a handful of recruiting appointments. Just remember—you can’t start a new streak, a new run, or even a new “in a row” until you’ve had one.
You just need one.
