Today would have been Steve Jobs’s 70th birthday. Jobs was an American businessman, inventor, and investor best known for co-founding the technology company Apple Inc.

Under his leadership, both he and his company left a lasting impact on the world. His vision brought technology into the hands of millions, shaping the way we work, serve, learn, and, well… live.

In honor of Jobs and the 18th version of iOS, which just updated on my iPhone this weekend, I thought it would be fitting to highlight some of the many jobs a Realtor takes on in a typical week. See how many of these you’ve tackled—or will tackle—this week.

  • Salesperson
  • Community Advocate & Tour Guide
Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected.
  • Researcher
  • Visionary
You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something—your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.
  • Chief Communicator
  • Counselor – a.k.a. Part-Time Psychiatrist/Psychologist
I’m convinced that about half of what separates the successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance.
  • Client Care Coordinator
  • Time Manager
My favorite things in life don’t cost any money. It’s really clear that the most precious resource we all have is time.
  • Pricing Expert
  • Marketing Specialist (property marketing, social marketing, influencer marketing, property staging)
When you’re a carpenter making a beautiful chest of drawers, you’re not going to use a piece of plywood on the back, even though it faces the wall and nobody will see it. You’ll know it’s there, so you’re going to use a beautiful piece of wood on the back. For you to sleep well at night, the aesthetic, the quality, has to be carried all the way through.
  • Transaction Manager
  • Passionate Promoter
Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.
  • Prospector/Lead Generator
  • Showing Homes / Hosting Open Houses
Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me. Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful, that’s what matters to me.
  • Professional Presenter
  • Decision Maker
I’m as proud of many of the things we haven’t done as the things we have done. Innovation is saying no to a thousand things.
  • Student
  • Master Networker

These roles (or “jobs”) are all critical to your success—this month, this year, and throughout your career. Which ones will you commit to this week to move closer to your goals?

The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.
