Many people are talking about how challenging 2024 was for the real estate market. According to the National Association of Realtors, Americans sold 4.06 million previously-owned homes—the lowest annual total since 1995.

But don’t lose sight of this: those 4.06 million sales represented 8.12 million sides! (Every sale required both a Buyer and a Seller to make it to closing.)

Even in what some might call a ‘doom and gloom’ year, plenty of people still had their BYEBest Year Ever.

Despite the headlines, many agents found ways to thrive. Here are a few examples of success from 2024:

Someone reached their highest GCI ever.

Someone sold more houses than they’ve ever sold before.

Someone added members to their team.

Someone decided to open their own brokerage.

Someone got licensed in another state.

Someone is tuning out the negative noise and staying focused on just building relationships, solving problems and having fun.

Abundance vs Scarcity

“I thought about competition more in the earlier days. You know, once you become successful, you realize that you’re competing with yourself. Somebody else making good records can’t keep you off the charts.”

– Glenn Frey, The Eagles

Someone you know bought their first home last year. And someone you know will buy their first home this year.

There will be some first-time Sellers this year, putting their first home on the market. There will also be someone who will be selling their home for the last time; Maybe they’re moving in with family, into assisted living, or perhaps the ol’ “family home” is being sold because someone passed away.

Who’s to say some of those next opportunities won’t come your way? They are going to go to someone, so why not you?

You’ve been staying in touch with your clients and SOI, right? You’re showing up in your office almost every day with the purpose of doing the activities that will help you earn top-of-mind-awareness from that next Buyer or Seller, right? You’re putting yourself out there on social media, in people’s mailboxes, and Inboxes, and voice mails, right?

Right?

Someone’s going to make 2025 their Best Year Ever.

Why not you?
