I enjoyed a couple of good rounds of golf this past weekend. The kind of rounds that make you really feel good about yourself when you’re done and you can’t wait to get back out on the course to see if your good fortunes continue.

I showed up for another round yesterday (Day 2 of a two-day event at my club) and it couldn’t have gone worse. The rain started falling on the 3rd hole and by the time we reached the 4th green, it was a monsoon. They suspended play when we got to the 5th green and I had to race home to change into dry clothes and grab a few more towels to dry off my clubs. In hindsight, I probably should have stayed home, but I had those memories of straight drives, crisp approach shots, and some good putts from the days before.

Needless to say, when play resumed, nothing went right. Crooked drives, off-center iron shots, chunked chips, and so…many…missed…putts.

I always say the cool thing about real estate is it’s different every day. It’s also the the bad thing about real estate; it’s different every day. I guess you can say the same thing about golf.

We all have some bad days. Some times things don’t go our way or end up the way we expected. The phone doesn’t ring. The Buyer’s offer wasn’t accepted. The Seller chose to go a “different direction.” The good news is there is always that “next” chance, right?

Whether it’s in business on the golf course we might just need to remember what The Grateful Dead sang in their classic song Truckin’

“Hang it up and see what tomorrow brings.”
