Who would ever think going to fly a kite during a thunderstorm was a good idea? Yet, 272 years ago, on June 10th, 1752, that’s exactly what Benjamin Franklin did. When the kite he was flying was struck by lightning, Franklin was able to collect a small charge in a Leyden jar that was attached to the kite’s string, thus enabling him to demonstrate the electrical nature of lightning.

Among many of his discoveries Franklin coined the terms battery, conductor, and electrician. He also invented the lightning rod, used to protect buildings and ships.

So what crazy thing will you do this week that just might lead to something good? You probably don’t have to stand outside in a thunderstorm, but it’s also probably not too smart to just sit back and play it safe.

Your next client might be a phone call away.

Sitting in your office and hoping for the phone to ring is probably a bit too passive.

Your next listing could be a text, email, or pop-by away.

What appointments do you have scheduled this week? Who can you have a conversation with?

Open house? Cold call? Door knock?

Maybe you could take a class or tune in to a webinar and learn soemthing new.

You don’t need to catch lightning in a bottle, but you just might need to let out a little string and see what happens.
