I was engaged in an online conversation this past weekend over a post I made on a social network. It was about personal vacations and taking time to escape the “Hustle & Grind” nature of today’s world.
Everyone knows that our mobile phones, tablets, and laptops cannot operate without a charge. Even some of our cars these days need to be plugged in to regain the energy they need to get from Point A to Point B.
We carry portable chargers with us wherever we go and always look for the nearest outlet whenever we walk into a room. We’ll even be satisfied with a few minutes of charge when we can get it, just to be able to make it a little farther down the road in our busy world.
Isn’t it sad that sometimes we are more worried about our devices getting a full charge than we are about making sure our bodies get the charge (or rest) we need to operate at full power?
It’s okay to take a break.
Naps are your friend.
Catching your breath is a smart strategy when things start moving quickly.
When was your last vacation? When is your next?
Who told you that you cannot take a day off now and then?
Sleep in late. Go home early.
Unplug your devices, send calls to voice mail, and ignore the pings, beeps, and notifications. Don’t worry, they will still be there when you turn them back on.
Sometimes our electronic devices need an update and require us to shut them down for them to work at their best.
Is it time for you to find a reason to hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE?
Usually after a full reboot, our systems work more efficiently and faster. Perhaps it’s time you tried it on the operating system known as YOU.
