The dream started in 1961 when then-President John F. Kennedy stated, “I believe this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to Earth.”

It was 54 years ago (July 24th, 1969) that Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins returned safely from their trip to the moon just 4 days prior.

The trip to the moon was just part of the goal. They still needed to make it back safely to Earth.

Begin with the End In Mind

It’s the second habit from Steven Covey’s classic book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

“Begin With the End in Mind” is based on imagination—the ability to envision in your mind what you cannot at present see with your eyes. It is based on the principle that all things are created twice. There is a mental (first) creation, and a physical (second) creation. The physical creation follows the mental, just as a building follows a blueprint.

This week, maybe instead of dreaming about unbelievable trips to the moon, we should all focus more on getting “our astronauts” safely back home.

Today’s conversations lead to tomorrow’s appointments.

Tomorrow’s appointments lead to the next day’s contracts.

Contracts lead to closings.

Closings lead to satisfied clients.

Satisfied clients lead to repeat and referral opportunities.

Whether it’s an astronaut or a home buyer, the end goal is to be able to say, “We’re home!”
