Another season of American Idol started on Sunday. It’s the 21st season of the amateur singing competition that has introduced us to celebrity judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, and current judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan. Host Ryan Seacrest has been part of the show since season one.
Some of the more notable winners have been Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, & Scotty McCreery.
These first few weeks are always fun because you see some great singers, some good singers, some mediocre singers, and some absolutely horrible singers. Just because they are great singers doesn’t guarantee them a “fast pass” to the finals. It happens every season that some great singers don’t advance because while they may have a great voice, their personality sucks or they completely lack the confidence needed to be a star.
These first few weeks of the show remind me a lot of the struggles, challenges, and excitement of being a Realtor in today’s fast-paced, highly competitive environment.
- You’ve got to bring your best every day.
- You have to believe in yourself.
- You better connect with people who might be in a position to judge you.
- You only get one chance to make a first impression.
- Collaborating with the right people can certainly help you.
- Getting a “yes” doesn’t guarantee you anything. You must continue to earn appreciation and acceptance and it only gets more challenging the further along you move in the process.
It’s a long season. You have to show up each and every day and “sing for your supper.”
Are you ready to get into the competition? Take a deep breath and get ready to make your voice heard.
Your golden ticket is waiting.
