I’ll bet you didn’t know that today (June 13th) is National Weed Your Garden Day, did you?
By definition, a weed is a wild plant growing where it is not wanted and in competition with cultivated plants.
Anyone who tends to a garden of flowers or vegetables knows how frustrating pulling weeds can be but the alternative is to let the weeds grow…and grow they will. The more they multiply, they steal sunlight, water, and nutrients that would be welcomed by the flowers or vegetables.
Pulling weeds is a chore but also a necessary task. It’s not known who started Weed Your Garden Day or why June 13th was selected, but the fact is, if you want to maintain a healthy and beautiful garden or lawn, every day should be “Weed Your Garden Day.”
What do you need to remove from your garden?
What is growing in your business where it is not wanted? What is competing with your attention to distract and challenge you these days? What is keeping you from building relationships, solving problems, and having fun?
Maybe your “weeds” are something invisible like doubt, negativity, lack of confidence or discipline, or no accountability.
Perhaps you’re letting technology or social media get in your way, or are you not using them enough.
Does a cluttered desk or workstation stop you from doing the daily activities you should be doing?
Be honest; Do you have some people in your current environment that are stealing your sunlight and stopping you from growing to your fullest potential?
This week it’s time to roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty, and start pulling up those weeds. Your summer garden is counting on you.
