A friend of mine is on his way from the East Coast to the West Coast. Doug let me know about 48 hours before he left Baltimore that his route was bringing him right through Central Ohio.
We met for a few beers at a local craft brewery and caught up on our families and our careers. We laughed about things that have happened over the years and shared stories with each other. It’s almost hard to believe that the last time we were together was two U.S Presidents ago.
Doug is certainly one of those “just passing through” connections.
Everyone should strive to have people in their life that achieve the “just passing through” status. Do you have some people around town or across the country that you’d love to connect with on a trip through town or an extended layover in their city? Are you one of those people that will attract a phone call, text, or email about a potential meet-up?
Imagine what might happen if you become synonymous with your town, region, or state? Just think how many opportunities you might have if people know that you are worthy of a “just passing through” visit.
If you’re good at building relationships, solving problems, and having fun, you might want to find a couple of places in town that can be your “go-to” locations and maybe consider getting a new “WELCOME” mat to put outside your door. Something tells me you might be having some visitors soon.
