The end of the year is in sight. We’ve turned the final corner and if this was a NASCAR race, some announcer would be yelling “…and there’s the white flag. This will be the final lap.” Oftentimes, this is when the race begins. Racers tighten their grip on the steering wheels, lean into their seatbelts, and open up the throttle just a little bit more.
Now AND Later
With just two months left in the year (and what a doozy of a year 2020 has been) we certainly don’t want to take our foot off the accelerator now. Now is not the time to ease up or hit cruise control. It’s time to throw everything you can at our business because our efforts will serve dual purposes.
First, we can stay focused on finishing 2020 strong and ending on a high note. Many hard-working agents, managers, brokers, and companies I know have had their best year ever, but that’s no reason to stop adding on to the numbers. There’s still time on the clock so stay in the game and keep doing what you have done up to this point. Snag a few more listings, convert a few more sales, send another referral. No one will complain about a few more closed deals between now and New Year’s Eve.
The other thing our efforts over these next two months will ensure is we will get off to a great start in the new year. Any deals that go pending between now and December 31st might close this year but if they don’t we’ll already be adding to our “wins” in 2021. Start lining up those listing appointments now with Sellers that might want to wait until “after the holidays” and schedule those Buyer counseling sessions soon for those people who will be ready “next year.” The best time to start those conversations about next year is this year. It’s this week. It’s right now. It’s today. Who will you get an appointment with today?
Let’s all be successful…on purpose…now AND later.
“How Much Further?”
My kids used to ask this question from the back seat on every family vacation when they were little. My answer was always the same. “Every time the wheels roll forward we are getting closer.” They didn’t like that answer but it was the truth. You just have to keep moving forward.
Keep the pedal down, stay on the right road, and look out for any obstacles which might slow you down. Remember, the race doesn’t have to end when we get through the calendar, it might just signify the start of another lap.
I hope you keep building relationships, solving problems, and having fun this week. Those three things will serve dual purposes for you now AND later.
