Monday Morning Match is a simple post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

Closer Than We Were Yesterday

I watched sports this weekend and it was glorious. Even though there were no fans at the NASCAR race in North Carolina and the golf that was on TV was a exhibition between 4 of the best players on the PGA Tour, it was still nice to see a little glimpse of the world we used to know, Pre-CoronaVirus.

And the best part about watching the sports action on a mid-May Sunday afternoon? I wasn’t able to sit down and relax to watch the action until after a busy week of showing houses, negotiating deals, meeting inspectors and appraisers, and staying focused on my daily 4-H activities each day.

It’s probably impossible to believe that we will ever return to the way things were before the global pandemic reached each of our hometowns and caused the world to hit “pause” on life as we knew it.

It’s far to early to know what life will look like next week, next month, or next year, but at least for now, it’s encouraging to see sports back on the television. It’s nice to notice bars and restaurants slowly starting to welcome patrons back to their patios and seeing the excitement a standard barber or beauty shop appointment can bring. Maybe even more important is to see, feel, and experience the burst in the real estate market, blossoming like the azaleas in my garden.

In the last week, multiple offers have been more prevalent than pollen. While it can be a challenge for Realtors to manage expectations and educate clients on different compromises and strategies, it’s also stressful for the Buyers who might not “win” in those deals and it’s also an anxiety-filled journey for the Sellers. This doesn’t even take into consideration the dedicated lenders, title reps, appraisers, inspectors, and hard-working staff in all of our local, regional, and national offices.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye

Buyers are still buying so let your potential sellers know. Sellers are still selling so let your potential buyers know. Everything might not be “back” but that’s no reason we call can’t start getting ready for it to be.

For now, pull your chairs up the sidelines. The competitors, clients, and the markets are warming up and getting ready to re-start. As my friend, Anthony always says, “It’s time to get up, show up, and do the work.”

Maybe we should get back to building relationships, solving problems, and having fun?

Then again, maybe we should have been doing that all along.
