Monday Morning Match is a simple post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

You Just Gotta Ask

I reached out last week to several respected leaders and peers of mine in the real estate industry and shared the following message. I figured that as a Carp’s Corner reader, that makes you a leader too. You’re a leader in your business, in your company, in your local and state associations, in your community, and most importantly in your family. Thank you for always showing up for your tribe and being ready to build relationships, solve problems, and have fun

Greetings,

I hope this finds you healthy and doing your best to stay sane, both professionally and personally, and helping your agents, brokers, vendors, affiliates, and communities in any way that you can. I’ve always said that “the best salespeople are the best question-askers” and right now, we should all be asking two versions of the same question;

Contact people and “ask TO help” and do not be afraid to contact people and “ask FOR help.”

The second part of that message goes out to you as a leader, mentor, and giver. We often find ourselves so focused on helping others that when it gets tiring to always be “on” and stay positive, it can get hard to stay energized and ready to help. So please do me a favor, do your work family a favor, and do your real-life family a favor and listen to the advice of the flight crew and “put your own oxygen mask on first” if it gets too turbulent.

Don’t be afraid to ask FOR help.

…And there’s one more thing I’d like to add while I have your attention.

Are You Getting Lost in Space?

One of the buzzwords we are all hearing and using these days is “social distancing.” It’s the concept that if everyone maintains a distance of 6′ between each other, we have a better chance of “flattening the curve” and preventing the CoronaVirus from spreading. I’m personally trying to change the term to “spatial distancing” because while I believe keeping our distance from others, especially strangers, will help, I don’t want to see anyone in our world lose their social connections with others.

Stay connected via social networks, video chats, text messages. Continue to send emails and hand-written notes. And don’t underestimate the power of a good old-fashioned phone call. It’s even possible to visit loved ones and friends while maintaining a safe distance between, such as from the front porch to the sidewalk, or from the garage to the driveway.

So let me ask you…”How can I help?”

I’ll look forward to hearing from y’all if needed. Until then, keep building relationships, solving problems, having fun…and don’t forget to wash your hands.
