Monday Morning Match is a simple post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.
You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it come true

It was my last day in Montana so I wanted to get a little fresh air and a few minutes of clear thinking. I walked around the neighborhood where Mom’s summer home sits to the little gravel pathway that leads behind the houses on the Eastern border of the property. Just fifteen steps off the road, total solitude awaits.
60 feet below flow the calming waters of the Stillwater River while 75 to 100 feet above, the top branches of the pines and aspens willow in the breeze. The Kalispell sky is so clear and blue that it looks make-believe but the brisk, August air makes you realize your senses are operating on high acuity.
As I sat there taking in the view, I listened to the river hit some small currents to the right where the water bent around the corner, rolling past the Buffalo Hill Golf Course just beyond the banks. On visits past, I’ve been able to look down and see deer grazing or hawks soaring. One time I witnessed a moose and her young calf taking a morning drink from the waters. Magpies and other songbirds darted and flew above the meadow grasses below. I meditated and felt thankful for the opportunity to be amidst the natural beauty of this place. In that simple moment of stillness, perspective is easily found.
Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better.

As I readied myself to walk back to Mom’s house and load up our suitcases for the flight home, I looked down one last time at the river and saw this dandelion. It was standing tall and proud amongst the other native scrub grasses and scrub. I knelt down to look at its perfectly spherical shape and imagined all the wishes one could get from its wispy flowers.
Health, prosperity, peace, the safety of my family and other loved ones, and all the cliche wishes would have been easy. A new listing or speaking opportunity, a referral from a client, or an undefeated season for my Florida Gators could have been more personal (or is “selfish” the word I was looking for?).
I didn’t pull the dandelion up and make any wishes. I didn’t waste any air from my lungs. I simply took a deep breath instead and put some good thoughts in my head. I turned to walk home and told myself that it’s time to get home and finish the year strong. It’s time to focus, become healthier, and do what it takes to achieve my goals.
You don’t need any dandelion petals to help build relationships, solve problems, and have fun.
You can do that just fine on your own.
