Monday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.
We had our first snowfall in Central Ohio this weekend. Oh, it’s snowed a few times already this winter but this was the first storm that actually brought enough snow to require shoveling. We probably had about 6 inches of white powdery snow but thanks to the swirling winds, there were some spots where drifts might have reached a foot. It’s pretty to look at from inside the warm house but standing in that brisk air and feeling that below-zero windchill blow across your face there wasn’t any time being wasted.
As my son Ryan and I were scraping the driveway systematically with the wind (allowing the drifting snow to accumulate into the yard rather than back on the driveway) and clearing a path with every swipe of the shovel, I started thinking how every day we are making our own path. Some days we have to shovel aside something that is in the way while other days our path is clear and unimpeded. We know where we want to go and sometimes we just need to find the right tools or systems to help us reach our destination.
Of course, we don’t have to clear a path. There are times we can simply walk right through the “snow” in our way because it’s not thick enough to stop us or the journey we were making didn’t need to be perfect. While the ideas might be similar, there is a big difference between “blazing a trail” and “paving the way.”
Grab your shovel this week and continue making your own path. Just don’t forget
