Monday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.
The Triple Crown is one of the signature examples of success in sports. In 1919, Sir Barton was the first horse to win The Kentucky Derby, The Preakness Stakes, and The Belmont Stakes in the same year.
This weekend, Justify became just the 13th horse to pull off this amazing feat. It had been a 37-year gap since Affirmed won the Triple Crown when American Pharoah finally broke through in 2015. That achievement was celebrated around the globe yet it seems that Justify winning all three races just 3 years later has people downplaying just how amazing of a feat it is.
“Another Triple Crown winner?”
“How hard can it be if it just happened 3 years ago?”
“Remember when it used to be fun waiting a long time for someone to win the Triple Crown?”
Just because we had success yesterday doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be striving for success today. Other people being successful shouldn’t slow down our drive to achieve success as well.
We can learn from Justify and the other 12 Triple Crown winners through history. Keep your blinders on and race to the finish line. Once you’re done, strut back home and wait for the next race. If you’re successful enough, sooner or later you’ll just get to hang out and relax and wait for them to talk about you in the history books.
Sure, you might not ever win one of the iconic horse races but maybe this week, you’ll achieve the trifecta of sales; Build relationships, solve problems, and have fun.
That’s three horses I could bet on every day!
