Monday Morning Match is a quick post – maybe a quote, inspirational story or idea – intended to spark some motivation inside each of you so your week gets off to a fantastic start on Monday morning.

I’ve been spending some time this past weekend putting some “final touches” on a few things. A few of these have been for upcoming presentations, some have been with clients on their transactions and another was here at the house. Even though we refer to them as “final touches,” none of these tasks will actually be complete.

The presentation will be updated and handouts will be created but while the touches on those aspects will be complete, the presentation will still need to be made and the event will hopefully be a success for all involved.

On one of my client’s transactions, we might be lucky enough to have completed the paperwork and offer phase but if things go well, we are just beginning the sale process with inspections and financing still to occur. And sadly, if the offer doesn’t work out, it’s back to the starting line of searches, showings and selecting all over again. Another client is scheduled to close on their new home at the end of the week so some final touches will be made this week like the walk-through and final paperwork submitted but just because the transaction closes, it doesn’t mean the relationship with the client ends. In fact, that’s when it just begins.

And here at home, we had to address some concerns along one of our basement walls where some moisture or water intrusion had caused some mold and mildew to appear. After cleaning, scraping and preparing the wall, we had to add a few coats of dry-lock paint to help waterproof the area. The second coat was our final touch but obviously, we will need to continually monitor and assess the area.

Are there some things happening in your business or personal lives that are close to being wrapped up? What do you need to give your time and attention to that can move from the “doing” list to the “done” list? Anything that is simply waiting for those “final touches” to be applied?

The next presentation? The next client? The next thing added to the “honey do” list?

Applying those “final touches” doesn’t mean that you’re done. In fact, you might be far from it. So keep building relationships, solving problems and having fun because every finish is something else’s start.
