There is no doubt in my mind that the most successful salespeople believe in themselves and their product, company or message before they would ever try to sell it to their clients and customers. The same idea goes for a manager seeking to recruit someone or any politician trying to persuade a vote.
Does your message and actions match with the message you’re telling me and the actions you want me to do?
I have never been a huge fan of Clemson but since my daughter expressed some interest in the school, I have opened my eyes on the school, the city of Clemson and the larger community around the Clemson Tiger program. Head football coach Dabo Swinney’s response to questions about the latest “National Anthem” concern from NFL players not standing for the Star Spangled Banner made me feel very proud and cognizant of the power of one’s words.
Watch the video below and see if you can pick up on the coaches passion, preparation, memory, mentoring personality, and genuine leadership. He believes in his message of hope and team work, pride and integrity.
Let me ask you…if you were a player, a recruit or an alumni supporter of Clemson, would you feel that Coach Swinney is building relationships? Is he trying to help solve problems? Do you think he is having fun with is duties?
What are you doing to build relationships, solve problems and have fun. and are you willing to stand up…or kneel down…for them?
