That doesn’t mean we should put away our lists.
That list you used to send out your Christmas Cards to family, friends, and past clients? Keep it updated and keep in touch with those people. You shouldn’t wait until next Christmas to send them something.
The list you made to get gifts for loved ones and close friends? Chances are you didn’t get everything on the list so keep it in front of you and stay aware of anything that might just make someone’s day. Birthdays? Anniversaries? What other “reason” might you have to surprise someone with something relevant or meaningful?
A list of “potential clients” from this year that just might finally be ready to pull the trigger in the new year? A great dialogue to use in your phone conversations or digital touches might be “if the coming year might be the year for your next real estate move, now is the time to begin those conversations. Let’s get together to discuss your situation sooner rather than later.”
Is your list of technology needs updated? What tool, system, or product did you not get this year that just might be a lever to help get you to the next level in the new year? Phone? Tablet? New laptop?
Do you have a list of people you’d like to meet or get to know better? Start filling that new 2022 Day Planner with appointments for breakfast, lunch, or happy hour and have more conversations.
And how about your daily to-do list? Whether it’s digital on your phone or tablet or old-school-style, written in pencil on a legal pad, it’s always a good idea to keep your tasks in front of you and top of mind. Remember the 4 P’s; Plan, Prioritize, Perform, and Play.
Oh…and even though Santa is done working for another 363+ days, he never stops monitoring the most important list. The Naughty or Nice List.
Choose wisely.
Keep doing the things your Mom and Grandma taught you. Use your manners. Be polite. Say please and thank you. Wait your turn. Don’t interrupt. Share with others. Be a good friend.
Oh yeah, and build relationships, solve problems, and have fun.
See ya next year!

Love it, Sean – and agreed. I do my check box list to keep me focused – no matter the tasks in front of me (Personal and Work). Work smarter, not harder and don’t rely on memory to ensure things happen. Happy (soon-to-be) New Year and I hope you have a great holiday, my friend!
